Derek Padden

Derek Padden, President and founder of Blue Glacier Management Group, has more than 17 years of experience in cyber operations and infrastructure, incident and emergency response, and program management within the commercial, federal, and defense sectors. Derek specializes in building and maintaining public-private partnerships and information sharing relationships to protect the nation’s critical cyber infrastructure and respond to the cyber threat. Derek’s focus is to provide clients with the highest-level professional and qualified expertise to deliver tailored and innovative solutions that integrate people, processes, and technology. Customer satisfaction is core to Blue Glacier’s business model and he ensures all employees demonstrate that through practice, with a focus on attention to detail and exceptional communications.

Prior to starting Blue Glacier, Derek served as a Communications Officer in the United States Air Force where he led the development and standup of the Air Education and Training Command's 24x7 Network Operations and Security Center. Derek then joined Veridian, later acquired by General Dynamics Corporation, where he was responsible for establishing the company’s first consolidated cybersecurity practice. He led the development, execution, operations, and financial oversight for multiple cyber security programs in the Department of Defense, Department of Treasury, and Department of Homeland Security. Derek was responsible for establishing and developing the multi-million dollar United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) and the Einstein programs. These programs created the foundation for a single focal point for national-level cyber security incident response and mitigation for the Federal Government (.gov) and private sector (.com) communities.

Derek received his Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems from Clemson University, a M.S. in Information Systems Management from George Washington University, and a M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
